Weak at maths ? Here is what you should do

Firstly identify where are you going wrong

Are you forgetting formulae in exam ?

  • Make a sheet enlisting all important formulae.

Are you making silly mistakes in the questions you already know ??

  • Make sure to learn from the silly mistake and ensure that you do not repeat it.

Are you not able to solve certain types of questions ?

  • Make sure to do ample of questions of that type.

Are you not able to solve problems of a particular chapter ?

  • Make sure you saturate yourself with all possible problems of that chapter from all available standard textbooks.

Are you not able to solve questions fast ?

  • Make sure you do regular revision and practice questions with a clock beside you to time yourself.

I hope that will help you
The idea is to analyse every paper you solve. Analyse your mistakes. Think of questions like

  1. Where did I go wrong ?
  2. Did I make silly mistake ?
  3. Is there a particular chapter whose questions you weren't able to do ?
These questions will surely help you find the issue and you are sure to do better.
All the best for JEE advanced :)

    1. Aman "dada" cannot advise you on such matters.he would probably suggest that u find out for yourself and see what works for you.i would suggest that u start by reading notes n see how well u remember the topics.then solve sums for ones you don't know. Then find a suitable test paper just to see how good you are overall when u solve it.this should help for now.

  8. How much relative importance and time should be given to the chapter of Inverse Trigonometry? Is it necessary to practice very tough questions for it?

  9. Hey bro! Posting this here because its your most recent blog :). I'm a student from narayana, and the advanced exam is now less than a month away. I've been a good student and the teachers and faculty told me from the beginning of the year that I had the potential to be in the top 500. Problem was, I am a person who doesnt solve problems until I have thoroughly read the concepts, and hence would always be lagging in the solving part. For eg, when there would be a homework of 200 sums in physics, I would spend half the time reading resnick & halliday and end up solving less than a 100. But in the weekly tests, I would end up beating most of the people in my state. My friends would do more than 200 sums and get lesser marks than me. This made me kindof overconfident. I stopped paying attention to sums, saying that "anyway I can solve everything in the revision time". And now I'm here, trying to complete the fiitjee GMP and realising that its just not possible.(I can solve most of them, but it takes a lot of time) Plus, because of the tension, my concepts are getting disoriented, because I never enforced them through practice. I realise the big mistake I have made....now I can barely hope for a 2000-3000 rank. My defeated feeling is not allowing me to study well. THE QUESTION IS, should I drop an year? I'm 100% sure I will be MUCH better prepared next year, after solving sums for an year. I can aim for top 50 too. But my parents tell me to just get any college for now, they don't believe in me because they think I'm a chillout who never solved any sums. Agreed, my mistake, but I worked hard on the concepts. Sorry for this long post, but I needed a solution from a respected person, what better than an IITian! Your reply could help me decide my future, thanks!

  12. Hey everyone. This comment is directed to you not Aman. I would tell you that please stop posting questions bcoz most of the questions that you have asked has been answered in his other section of the blog.
Dipin jayachandar suma, I think all Aman would tell you is to follow his blog and solve problems. His blog has answered MANY things. I don't think he will ever make a section okn droppers bcoz he himself is not one and won't risk giving his opinion.
