Must buy books for JEE preparation (organic chemistry)

A variety of books are available for organic chemistry.

For those who are aiming for just selection, NCERT is sufficient for you, you need not buy any other book(s).

For those who are aiming for a rank around 1000 must buy the best book for organic chemistry - LG Wade

  • LG Wade organic chemistry

For those who want nothing less than an under 100 rank, you must buy additionally the book by MS chauhan (which is really a big gun to solve)

  • MS Chauhan
I did not find a proper link on the internet for this book, kindly search in the local store. This book contains just the problems and no theory.

  2. Your book recommendations are simply awesome!
But I have a doubt: I'm a beginner in organic chemistry, so are Resonance materials + LG Wade good for me to solve organic numericals at this stage?
If you have tried them, can you say how is the TMH of Chemistry and Ranjeet Shahi's Essential Organic Chemistry (Arihant)?
    Thanks.

    1. Well, LG wade is meant for beginners to the first year B.Tech students at IIT Bombay - all levels and so, you can safely stick to it to develop basics.
However, it is advisable to study general organic chemistry from NCERT first

  19. Hi Aman,
I have just began studying organic chemistry. I found that foreign authors like LG Wade and Solomons are just awesome and MS Chauhan has good questions(all my seniors told me to do that book). MS Chauhan contain questions only, which should be done after clearing basics and theory. But the real problem I am facing is just in beginning is with topics like GOC and Isomerism. Those books by foreign authors don't cover this very well.

    1. Buy cengage part 1 - best for goc , isomerism and reaction mechanism

  20. Hii aman ,
I am preparing for iit jee 2019 ,
I have started organic chemistry from lg wade after completing ncert , but the problem is that topics are scattered in the book , it wasted lot of time to complete a chapter from lg wade.
How did you used lg wade , had you read it fully(only things in syllabus)?
Also mention a book to prepare chapters of organic chemistry that are not in WADE ?

  21. I have read lg Wade. Which other book i used after lg Wade. Help me out

    1. LG Wade is sufficient for a decent rank in JEE Advanced. Make sure to thoroughly complete NCERT. If you need an advanced problem book, you can pick MS Chauhan.
