Waste this time and time will waste you.
Time is precious during the last few months. Especially the time between JEE Main and JEE Advanced. This time is the rank deciding factor.
Let me make it a bit more explanatory. The people who haven't prepared well during the past two years are going to make full use of this time. Such students were not able to prepare well because of say school exams, board exams etc. But now(after board exams are over), they are completely free of any load and will charge themselves to the fullest.
They might easily go ahead if you don't work hard. So better utilize this time.
To be precise, do the following :
- Do endless revision of inorganic chemistry. If you don't revise now, then it will be washed away.
- Solve innumerable problems of organic and physical chemistry.
- Solve as many problems as you can from various topics.
- Make a clear list of topics/chapters in which you are weak.
- Practice infinite problems of the chapters in the above list.
- Make sure you have completed NCERT books thoroughly.
- Make sure that you are solving a good amount of problems in a given time. Always have a timer with you to time yourself.
- Take special care of your health. You don't want to waste even a fraction of this time.
- Increase your study hours by around 10%.
- Think about your target. Keep the target in mind and stay motivated.
- Do well in the test series. Make sure to analyse your mistakes in every paper.
- Note down the silly mistakes that you committed in the exams and make it a point that you don't repeat the same mistake again.
- Revise your coaching notes regularly.
- Cut down your extra curricular activities especially those activities in which your body gets exhausted (sports etc)
Another brilliant one.......
ReplyDeletebt i have a question.....is it advisory to do packages like FIITJEE GMP in btwn the test date of main n advanced?or should we complete these question bank(s)..well ahead of the JEE test days??
Depends on your choice.
DeleteAll these things vary from person to person
For me : I solved a part of GMP before
is it good for watching tv for relaxation??and also what rank should someone achieve in test held in coaching??if no of students is around 1200
Deleteone questioin sir... u mentioned about resonance rank booster.. i wanted to ensure whether it has problems very similar to jee level or is it above jee level.... i have made up my mind to complete the whole resonance revision package... so wnted to knw...thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's the best choice
DeleteGo ahead
It contains problems of JEE level and is really good
Thanx bhaiya !!!! its nice and much helpful :)
ReplyDeletethnx for your valuable posts
ReplyDeletecn u pls tell how u utilize your time btwn jee main and advanced what all u did inn that time..?/
is it beneficial to gmp right now or btw main and advncd time period?
or i should be more focus on main.?
aspirant for 2014
Well your question has been answered in detail in this post.
DeleteRead the title of the post and the entire post once again
Bhaiya! which is a good practice book for organic!
ReplyDeleteAnd is solomons a substitute for LG wade
I don't think there is a good "book" for practice.
DeleteBut the revision packages are enough
I have not read solomons
hi aman..my question is.. Which is a better decision-joining crash course from a reputed coaching institute after boards or self study which includes completion of resonance revision package .please suggest from your own experience-aiming 4 a top rank.
DeleteI have little idea of how good/bad the crash courses are.
DeleteBut I would suggest going for a revision package rather than crash course.
you can use MS CHOUHAN BALAJI JEE ADV FOR questions..
DeleteHi Aman! Off the topic, but how much did you score in JEE Advanced in each subject? And when did you solve Resonance's revision package?
ReplyDeleteC : 89
DeleteM : 91
P : 113
T : 293/360
hi aman when i could not solve questions in a row about 4-5 questions and spending about 30 min i just don't know what to do next i just get up from study table and then after all my concentration gets lost .currently solving resonance revision package ..jee 2014 aspirant i will meet u in a time of about 4 months at iit bombay i m coming ...plz help me
ReplyDeleteI will be glad to meet you
DeleteFor that, My best wishes
But : Don't lose motivation so easily at this crucial stage.
You are nearing the exam. You have to keep yourself motivated. Stay focused. Discuss the questions with your friends and teachers and find out the technique and try to fix that method in your mind.
Of course, you won't be able to do all questions but at least some questions can be cracked with the help of friends
thanks ...
ReplyDeleteHave you completed GMP and RTPF totally?
ReplyDeleteGMP : yes I completed it almost fully
DeleteRTPF : i solved only papers of JEE main and a couple of papers of JEE advanced
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThere is a sequence
DeleteDuring the initial 1.5 years, you are supposed to solve standard textbooks, coaching material (packages) and archive parallel to each other.
Revision packages are meant to be solved in the end for revision.
However, if you have say 2 distinct set of revision packages, then you might try one of them during the initial phase (the 1.5 years) and keep the other one for revision.
Also note that you just cannot pick up "any" book at "any" time.
For example, you shouldn't pick up irodov to develop basics of physics.
That book is meant to be solved when you are already a master and are looking for more challenging problems
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteWhen did you solve Resonance's revision package? And how much time did it take?
ReplyDeleteRespect.!!.. plz write an in-detail article about ur experiences on D-DAY i.e 2 june 2013.How ur day started, what were u feeling,ur thoughts on reaching the centre,ur "emotions" during THE exam,ur emotions after the exam, the activities going on at ur coaching centre, what were u expecting of the result etc. It would be nice/fun/intresting/helpful to read about that for sure. An AIR of the kind u got might be normal/"useless now"/"people have done better than me" , for u, but for millions of jee aspirants out there, u r no less than a celebrity. And as faithful fans we just want to know more about you. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to answer your above post.
DeleteBUT : only when the time comes
Now is not the time to think of "the day".
You should focus on your preparation.
Towards the end of February or rather beginning of March, you'll get the post that you want - "D day".
In fact, my idea was to put it towards the end of March when JEE main is near and board exams are over.
I think this idea is better.
Let your board exams be over.
Well..to start with.. if u allow me to be a lil personal,than i'll tell u tat i'm in 11th...
Delete:)))
On another note, they say NOW is the right time. :D
So i request u to post it as soon as possible...plzzzzz..:P...
and if it is of any help BODH(GAUTAM BUDDHA) said.."Problem is,u think u have time.." :p..
Look at me,giving Time gyaan to a jee top ranker.. so sOrry for that..But plz do post it jaldi se... :)
Chill take it easy.
DeleteEverything has a time

ReplyDeleteRepeat: When did you solve Resonance's revision package? And how much time did it take?
ReplyDeleteAlso, how much did you devote specifically for CBSE Boards?
Resonance revision package : I solved it some 14 days before JEE (infact I didn't solve much of it)
DeleteI devoted practically nothing to board exams.
DeleteI had the following subjects :
English
Physics
Chemistry
Maths
Physical Education
Hindi (unfortunately)
English was prepared in bits.
PCM was already done
Physical education was done 2 days before exam
hindi was done a day before exam (thanks to my mom that I passed :P )
a post on coordinate geometry and diff. calculus would be beneficial
ReplyDeleteYeah why not ? These are my favourite topics.
DeleteUum....nt just differential calculus....bt a detailed discussion on entire calculus would be beneficial for us....waiting eagerly for those posts....
ReplyDeleteJust an of bit question...which the most scoring topics in PCM for IITJEE??
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteMost scoring topic depends on 2 factors :
Deletea.) the level of JEE paper : every year level of JEE paper changes. JEE 2013 had extremely tough Maths and Chemistry sections whereas one of the easiest Physics portion in the history of JEE
b.) your command on a topic : for example, I was weak at algebra so it was not a scoring topic for me. Whereas I was good at calculus and managed to do well in it
Hi aman I prepared physics from hcv , halliday , irodov( mechanics and electricity) I hv also completed Kolkata pathfinder study mat. Is it enough to get two digit rank in jee main. Please reply soon.
ReplyDeleteyeah must be sufficient
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Deletesuppose you are solving a question in a competitive exam
ReplyDeletewhat do you feel- whether this question of similar patter
have been done by you earlier or this question is
entirely a new one of new pattern
http://www.fiitjee.com/JEEA13/JEEAP2.pdf
u can visit these site and see question no. 49 and 50 (paragraph)
for giving me answer by taking it as an example
Ahhh I remember this paragraph! Oh how badly I remember the questions 49 and 50. That day ! that pressure! that heat
DeleteThese were the 2 questions that led me to where I am - IIT Bombay ,Computer Science and Engineering
I have sentiments attached to these 2 questions.
Let me explain.
I had badly screwed up the maths section. I was tensed. Paper 1 went bad and paper 2 was the last resort.
Anyhow, those 3 intense hours of paper 2 also passed.
Bell rang - paper 2 was over.
Invigilators started collecting the papers.
I was stuck with this paragraph.
I don't know how but "After the paper collection had begun" , I managed to get the answer to these 2 questions (correctly).
Lucky na!
Yes!!
my JEE score : 293
IIT Bombay CS cutoff score - 287
Difference = 6 marks = those 2 questions that I managed to somehow answer correctly
Well in the end - I have forgotten how I did this and now I can't help you
Hi aman after preparing physics partially I hv not gone through any mock exam. Is it gonna affect my jee score?
ReplyDeletewhat do you mean by "preparing physics partially" ?
DeleteHi aman bhaiyya.
ReplyDeleteI am from Kanpur too, and I wish to get a jee rank of under 200. I wasted a lot of time in 11th and my 12th course is about to start. I have around 5 chapters in each subject that I did not study properly, so will it matter in jee ? (I am revising those chapters with whatever time I have left.) I will properly study in the twelfth class to compensate for the 11 th syllabus.
Also I wanted to ask that since jee has become objective, is it necessary to solve subjective problems?(i solve resonance study material subjective and HCV for physics but not much for chemistry abd very oittoe in maths.)
subjective problems are very important from the point of concept development. JEE might be objective but you won't really get the feel of the subject unless you solve a few subjective problems
DeleteFrom where should I try subjective problems for maths? Because I feel that rd Sharma objective and tmh are more than enough. Also is subjective required for organic?
DeleteMaths Subjective : Arihant books
DeleteOrganics : Yes ofcourse. Best source is past year JEE problems. There are endless subjective questions in JEE past year papers
But arihant books have extremely tough as far as their subjective is concerned(I have sk goyal algebra and solving its solved examples is a nightmare!)
ReplyDeleteWhat should be my minimum percentage marks in regular tests to score atleast 70% in jee adv?
Arihant's books are really good for developing concepts and you must solve them seriously and patiently.
DeleteYou went to a dummy CBSE school , how did you manage your practicals?
ReplyDeleteschool teachers will help you
DeleteHi aman with help of hcv , halliday and study mat can I get rank in jee main.
ReplyDeletesure why not ?
DeleteHELLO SIR.... YOU HAVE REPEATEDLY EMPHASIZED ON THE IMPORTANCE OF INORGANIC CHEMISTRY FOR GETTING A GOOD RANK IN JEE.... AND FOR THAT, YOU HAVE ADVISED US TO REVISE THE INORGANIC PART REPEATEDLY....
ReplyDeleteBUT THERE IS A PROBLEM I AM FACING IN DOING THIS.. I AM UNABLE TO REMEMBER THE INORGANIC STUFF UNLESS I DO IT BY WRITING IT DOWN AND EVEN AFTER WRITING, I FORGET IT IN SOME DAYS.. SO AGAIN WHEN I REVISE IT, I HAVE TO WRITE IT AGAIN AND AS YOU KNW THAT INORGANIC CHAPTERS ARE SO HUGE, THEY EAT UP TOO MUCH TIME... SO WHAT SHOULD I DO....?
I really can't help.
DeleteI have clearly mentioned my strategy and if it is failing for you then you must figure out your own method - the one that suits you
please say me is fiitjee booklet for PPC and P block is enough for inorganic chemistry? also is there any topic that is present in AIEEE but not in NCERT !! for any chapter and subject
ReplyDeletewhat is ppc ?
DeleteNCERT is the best for p block
AIEEE syllabus is same as CBSE syllabus
PPC means that booklet for preparation and properties of compund, S and p lblock!! that booklet i am talking about
Deletehai bhaiya congratulation for ur rank I am aditya Anand and I joined resonance aits have my average % around 65%.bhaiya I use to commit too many mistakes in exam & I cannot manage them, please tell me how to tackle them ?and could I can also have my rank under 100.
ReplyDeletework hard, analyse your mistakes and try not to repeat them.
Deletethis is all I can say
hi aman !
ReplyDeletehow much did you score in the fiitjee aits (approx) out of 230 paper advanced and 360 mains)) i have come to know from my seniors that you got under top 10 air ranks
what do you mean by "out of 230 paper" ?
Deleteyeah my ranks used to be in top 10 or top 50
bye the way , it's not AIR ranks because that would mean all india rank ranks :P
Deletehow about 200-300 rank in fiitjee aits?. can i make it to top 500 in iit advanced?
ReplyDeleteof course.
Deleteafter all AITS is not JEE
PPC means that booklet for preparation and properties of compund, S and p lblock!! that booklet i am talking about!! is it sufficient
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete1. u have mentioned that u used tmh for mathematics (algebra portion only) but u might have seen 3D and calculus portion also. so according to u is solving 3D and calculus from tmh useful
ReplyDelete2. did u use tmh (for algebra only) for revision or as a standard textbook
3. is solving all the solved example from r c mukherjee good for atleast jee mains level.
4. where did u focus more to tmh whether the initially 100 (approx) solved problem or the later part (which is divided into level 1 and level 2)
1. It might be good for JEE. But you would like some more challenging problems. Overall, TMH is the best
Delete2. mainly for revision
3. ahh, RC mukherjee is far above JEE main level.
4. the solved problems are the best
did you study chem from Shyam sir at fiitjee kanpur. shud i go for him or any other coaching or else study chem on my own?
ReplyDeleteNo comments.
DeleteHey aman I am facing much difficulty in dealing with the assertion reason type of question especially the correct explanation,,for example in statement 2 some intermediate step leading to statement 1 is present, would it be regarded as a correct explanation
ReplyDeleteLeave them. No one's gonna ask you assertion an reason in JEE
Deletehas it been abolished?
Deletebhaiya!!! kya aap please bata sakte hain ki fiitjee ki jo inorganic ki booklet aati hai prepartion and properties of compounds of sblock and p block kya woh sufficient hai'
ReplyDeleteNCERT is more than enough.
DeleteStill if you want anything else, then yeas go for fiitjee but it will be a waste of time
in your maths section u mentioned that u used TMH for algebra but in my last post u said that u used TMH for algebra mainly during revision then which book for algebra u used as a standard textbook for 2 years before ur revision period (i mean only algebra)
ReplyDeleteWell I used it during the preparation(the solved problems) and also during revision (the unsolved problems)
DeleteHow did u get so much time to sovle FIITJEE GMP, RTPF, RAnk booster TMH , read HCverma and morriosn boyd during revision . I mean during those 2months
ReplyDeleteGMP was solved in 1 whole year.
DeleteRTPF - 3 months are enough
Rank Booster - I didn't solve it completely
TMH - 2-3 months are enough
HC Verma - Give me a day, I'll complete it.
Morrison Boyd - 1 week is more than enough
Hey Aman,
ReplyDeleteWhat used to be your plan during feb and march? Did you dedicate it for cbse, or for jee? And for cbse, do I need any other resource except for ncert?
Mainly for JEE. But I occasionally prepared for board exams too.
DeleteNo, If you have prepared well for JEE , then NCERT is enough for JEE. You don't need those "tough" problems that board level students do
Hello Aman;
ReplyDeleteCan u please tell which were the questions u lost 7 marks at in physics.
Both questions were controversial. I could have scored marks in both
DeleteOne of them involved series expansion of e^x (radioactivity integer type in paper 1) and I left it
Other one was the paragraph about change in magnetic moment. I was confused with + and - and so I left it initially and didn't get time to come back
Hey aman,is advanced problems in organic chemistry by ms chohan a good book for jee level practice
ReplyDeleteStay away from that book. It's above JEE level, far above JEE
Delete1.is it advisable to study some topics like heat and thermodynamics, 3 dimensional geometry, modern physics (some topics) 15-20 days before JEE mains (mainly the question parts of these above mentioned topics) Instead of focusing much on these at these period of time leaving other important topics.
ReplyDelete2. was there any topics of your's which you decided to do it 15-20 days before JEE mains (mainly the question part of the topics) and if yes what are these topics?
See, I did no special preparation for JEE main. Never took it seriously and that's the reason I ended up with 92 in Physics
Deletewhat about my first question
ReplyDelete1.is it advisable to study some topics like heat and thermodynamics, 3 dimensional geometry, modern physics (some topics) 15-20 days before JEE mains (mainly the question parts of these above mentioned topics) Instead of focusing much on these at these period of time leaving other important topics.
Please frame your question clearly.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletethere are some topics (in PHYSICS like modern physics, waves and sound, heat transfer , thermal expansion
ReplyDeletein MATHS 3 Dimensional geometry) which i forget repeatedly
so is it advisable to solve questions from these topic 15 - 20 days before JEE MAIN leaving it now at these period of time (because again i may forget)
i hope my question is clear now
yes, it is advisable" to solve questions from these topic 15 - 20 days before JEE MAIN"
DeleteBut it is strictly not advisable to "leave it now at these period of time"
"Leaving it now" is the reason that you forget them.
To remember things, you need to practice them
I'm appearing JEE in 2015......is it a realistic plan to complete FIITJEE GMP in 1 month....say April'2015??i mean can it be solved in 1 month?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. You may need around 2 months
Deletesir i wanted to know if 65-70% marks in fiitjee rtpf are good or just average?
ReplyDeletesir i wanted to know how is 65-70% marks in fiitjee rtpf for mains?
ReplyDeleteSir , aiming for a 2-digit rank ..would you suggest Rank Booster or GMP for revision ..( Jee 2014) ?
ReplyDeleteGMP
DeletePlease don't call me sir
You can simply call me aman
Aman .. u had mentioned somewhere that resonance package is best for those aiming for a 3 - 4 digit rank....I basically want a package to attain a 3 or 2 digit rank , that is , somewhere within top 500...should I go for GMP..?..or is resonance Rank Booster sufficient ?
DeleteI think that a special package isn't gonna effect(or affect) your rank in these last days... What you prepare for these two years is the thing that really matters... If you have prepared well, then I think not doing GMP/ Rank booster in the last days is going to throw your rank from XX to XXX/ XXXX. Also if you have prepared with loopholes in it, a GMP isn't gonna pump your rank from XXXX to XX. I have completed GMP, and I think that GMP has a collection of toughest problems, and in these last days, if you can't solve a problem, it's really going to demotivate you... Review packages and RTPF are best at this stage of preparation...
DeletePlz help me get command on the more than one correct type questions as it comprises of 132/360.I can manage integer type and SCQs . But this is my weak point.plzzzzz help me
ReplyDeletei wanted to know if 65-70% marks in fiitjee rtpf are good or just average?
ReplyDeleteReply me plz
ReplyDeleteWHAT DID YOU DO DURING YOUR STUDY BREAKS TO MAKE YOUR MIND REFRESHED ENOUGH TO GIVE YOUR 100 % AGAIN
ReplyDeletehi aman i want to know about what special preparation u have done for KVPY and i request one post of anand bharoskar's experience of KVPY and chandra maloo of jee mains plzz..
ReplyDeleteplz..aman reply

ReplyDeleteplease also tell me about kvpy interview stage
ReplyDeleteBhaiya , Please tell me - by when my JEE syllabus must be over so that i can devote lots of time to revision and practice( i am currently studying in class 12 ) ,
ReplyDeletePlease also tell me which online AITS is best , as i dont have any coaching classes or AITS centres in my city.

ReplyDeleteSir, I only have 2 months for JEE mains and i am good in physics average in chemistry but a bit weak in mathematics .. i had revised the physics part and physical, organic part of chemistry and some chapters of mathematics. i had given many mock test i had gotten 110 marks (too less). what should i do now i mean in these months .. i am fearing about maths ..plz help
ReplyDeleteHey, I am a JEE 2016 aspirant. Just wanted to ask, there is a month to go for jee. I am trying to cover up my weak parts but at the same time, I wanted to ensure that I don't leave out on any TYPE of question or concept before JEE as far as possible. I have neither solved the GMP nor RRB nor review packages and in the time that I have, I can only properly do one of them. You might have solved them during u your JEE days. Can u suggest me which one I should go for? AIM: Just don't wanna leave out on any concept. :)
ReplyDeleteCan any one of the blog authors please answer? I know it is quite possible this question has already been answered at some other place but it is not easy to go through all the comments on this blog,(there are hundreds of them) that too when many of them are not posted where they actually should be posted. Please answer.
DeleteHI i was not in a good batch in fiitjee south delhi in class 11 but now im in relatively better batch in which 3 out of 2 teachers used to teach in sankalp batch. So how should i revise my class 11 as they didnt gave much knowledge to me as the current teachers do?
ReplyDeleteYou don't even know realistic fraction, forget getting selected in Jee. You will fail even standard 4.
DeleteAman.Iam preparing for eamcet and jee main examination.Iam not taking on jee advanced as iam not provided with coaching for iit. Moreover I wasted first year,I didn't pay attention to objective since I could'nt adjust myself in our college hostel,Hyderabad. My question is I have only 3 months left with me and I don't know anything regarding jee main.I wasted whole almost 1 and half year.As this time there is no weightage for boards for jee main, I was disappointed,as I secured 99% in first year. And I have boards in march and april2 is jee main 2017 .Tell me some tips to study new for jee main not advanced to score some 240 to 250 in jee main to get seat in IIITH.I don't know anything just I know basic problems in eamcet level only .please help me Aman bhayya.
