KVPY

This post focuses on KVPY.
Unfortunately I didn't give KVPY in class 11th because I wasn't aware of the deadlines.
But , as i heard from my friends - It's easy to crack and many of my friends did it!! As far as I know , the interview is a bit difficult (may be a rumor).
For class 12 KVPY aspirants , KVPY is like a cakewalk. You can crack the exam very easily if you have prepared well for JEE. Don't forget to cover the topics of JEE main Syllabus because KVPY doesn't have any "well defined" syllabus.
As far as I remember 11 of my friends appeared for KVPY and all cleared stage 1 and stage 2 both.
You will hear a lot from your friends - "Interview is very difficult , they ask tough questions and try to test your advanced skills" - wrong , wrong and WRONG !!
The interviewers are really good , humble and gentle . They assume you to be a student of class 12 and not at all "a scientist". They ask simple questions of board level. You need not look "extremely smart" or an "intelligent guy". They won't judge you by your looks. What they need is a research oriented brain.
Ofcourse most students (including me) appear for KVPY only for a certificate. 
In the end - Keep calm and study!

    Don't ask my rank in KVPY. It was bad because I made bubbling error. But it was between 100 and 150 :P

      Unfortunately due to some medical reasons, I couldn't attend the camps.
      I had to cancel the tickets at the last minute.
      For the same reason, I had to skip the Asian physics olympiad (Indonesia) too

      U must have been selected. The results are already out. Cutoff is Stream SA- 53 marks out of 100
      SA SC/ST - 41 marks out of 100
      SA PWD(Person with disability) – 41 marks out of 100

      They asked me about qualitative analysis.
      I don't remember the exact question but it was something like this :
      "why hydrogen sulphide in dil. HCl is used in group ___ and not in group ___" where I don't remember the "___"
      In physics they made a hilly terrain and asked me to draw the kinetic energy v/s time sketch

      nothing if you do B.Tech
      They don't award the scholarship to those students who opt for B.Tech.
      Only those students who go for pure sciences (B.Sc, etc) are awarded the scholarship

    They award the fellowship only to those students who opt for pure sciences (B.Sc, research etc).
    B.Tech students are not given any fellowship

      Interview is extremely easy if you have prepared for JEE well.
      To me, they asked questions from physics (because I had mentioned it as my favourite subject) and chemistry (may be their favourite subject). They didn't ask anything from mathematics section.

      I have no idea of marks but it should be around 65-70 range

    I am preparing for IITJEE 2015....i want to write KVPY SX stream...so do i need to solve any 'specific'/'different' type of questions in PCM for SX stream?what i mean to say is:
    a)are the questions asked any different to that asked in JEE?
    b)do i need to solve any specific KVPY packages provided by Resonance(or say other tutorials)?or solving previous years papers would give me an idea about the exam & the type of questions asked?

    Are there anything specific to make sure that we have covered well or practiced enough before KVPY. Something we may have overlooked like some parts of NCERT or CBSE syllabus by concentrating purely on JEE Adv. etc...?
    (Assuming JEE Adv. preparation was satisfactorily completed within September)

    What is the most fundamental difference between the two exams - kvpy and iitjee.. Which university is better for a BS in physics and mathematics .... so that i can land an MS admission in MIT, Harvard... Will IIT or IIsc, IISER help me in this,,,,,,, Only consider the reputation of these colleges...Consider u have the best brain after Stephen Hawking in these subjects..

    Is it worth giving KVPY for a certificate?

    I am a student of 12th, and I don't think I will go for research. There maybe a very small probability of that, but let us neglect that. Would KVPY certificate help me even if I am not to do research? Do I need appear for interview if I am going just for the 'certificate'?

      Yes, do appear for it.
      It will appear on your resume as a resume point.
      Do appear for other exams (I myself regret not appearing for small scale exams about which I was ignorant).

      KVPY, BITsat, UPTU, olympiads, and of course JEE - that's all I know as of now
      There are other exams SCRA, etc about which I am not aware

    i am a jee 2017 aspirant.i want to appear for kvpy this year but syllabus in my coaching wont be finished untill dec.my schedule runs tight.i have 6-9 hrs of classes so i am not getting time to study and finish my syllabus.what do i do.can u pls help me out?

    My Cousin joined brainmaster last year for kVPY preparations, but could not score good, then next year his junior joined Catalyser Indore, although both are average student, his friend scored good n this was all coz of efforts of teachers in Catalyser Indore and their system of teaching.
