The results were supposed to be announced on 23rd June 2013 but 21st June's newspaper said - "JEE results are likely to be announced today at 5.00 PM". We all became excited because we were expecting a good result.
Around 4.50 PM we opened JEE site - and it opened well.
Sharply at 5 , the server went down and the site didn't open. I was excited to know my result. Thanks to my friend Kartikeya Gupta(AIR 4 in JEE 2013) who checked my result and told me my rank.
We all were happy. My mother hugged me.
"IITB CS - yes it is!!" was my reaction. I received congratulations call from numerous friends and relatives. I also got a number of calls from various newspapers - they interviewed me and next day Kanpur's newspaper was flooded with my JEE result - see it yourself
It was a great feeling. The session 2012-2013 was one of the best for me. Here are a few accomplishments :

Hi AMAN,
ReplyDeleteWas calculus your strongest part in mathematics during you iitjee mathematics preparation?
Do you have any tips for calculus? What is the best way of starting the calculus for JEE preparation?
No boy! not at all
DeleteCo-ordinate geometry was something I was good at during my JEE days
IIT calculus is completely different from IITJEE calculus.
Here in IIT , you have to prove that limit of x tending to 2 , f(x) = x is 2 !!!!
What is the best way of starting the calculus for JEE preparation?
DeleteBook by RD Sharma (for CBSE students)
DeleteBook by ML Agarwal (for ICSE students)
Hi AMAN,
DeleteIs RD Sharma a base book for calculus? How did you started studying calculus? I mean which book did you choose for base
Post it in maths section
DeleteThis is damn inspiring though I was not that gr8 in school(93% in ICSE 2013) but hope to do well in jee thnx a lot aman bhaiyya for guiding me.
ReplyDeletewelcome!
DeleteArey forgot to tell u I m coming to IIT Bombay for techfest on 5 Jan and want to meet u pls tell me where will I find u gotta take some tips bout jee adv.
ReplyDeleteYeah sure. I'll be glad to meet you
DeleteI can be found in Hostel 15-B , Room 1004 (10th floor)
Which is better for maths in practicing? TMH or New pattern IIT JEE SK Goyal by Arihant pub.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of "New pattern IIT JEE SK Goyal by Arihant pub"
ReplyDeleteTMH is good for practicing if you are aiming for a good rank.
However some problems are exceptionally tough(especially problems of algebra) and are not really needed for JEE
Can you please suggest me some good books for practicing in chemistry and physics
Deletei have already mentioned a number of books.
Deletecheck the relevant posts
3rd clipping's headline is AWESOME!!!!!!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteAman bhaiya!! it would be nice if you write an article on your JEE day experience! i mean how you started attempting the paper, your confidence levels and all!!!
ReplyDeletesure.
DeleteBut this suggestion should have been mentioned in the post - blog feedback/suggestions
I am sorry!

ReplyDeleteSorry for trouble and thanks in advance
ReplyDeletesuggestions which coaching institute to choose i have to live in a hostel
1. fiitjee south delhi
2. narayana hyderabad
3. kota(bansal,resonance)
already have correspondence of fiitjee, bansal , narayana, plancess, akash only success magnet....
advice on my strategy
my strategy (except inorganic): *before class see video lectures + a standard book(my main focus is the book which is best in theory [here suggest books you suggested are up to the mark ]) +n.c.e.r.t before class in coaching (each once){ [here suggest] order according to me as written above sequence}
* topic in class done
*doing my coaching packages(see things not heard before) and other stuff from there
*jee previous years questions
*revision schedule packages of other coachings(only ques not seeing theory [wants suggestion here ])
please reply!!!!!!!!
coaching institute - decide it yourself.
DeleteI have never been to any of these , although I have friends in all the 4 coaching institutes (my roomie is from narayana infact).
so i can't say anything. JEE = 90% of your work and 10% of coaching support.
your advice is good. all jee aspirants do such planning (even i did so) but it is next to impossible to follow such a routine.
Do keep in mind = too many cooks spoil the broth(i am repeating this because possessing 100s of books is different and solving them is different)
can you give a possible routine
DeleteRoutines etc vary greatly.
DeleteDo it yourself

ReplyDeleteWhat was your jee advanced score?
ReplyDelete293
Deleteholy mother of God.. :O.. u r like... a demi-god or something...
DeleteThank you.
DeleteIt's all because of you audience that I remain enthusiastic to write more and more.
Yesterday the blog got it's highest number of hits - 779 and that's something cool

Deletegr8.. keep up the good work man... n don't stop blogging...ever... :p
ReplyDeletewell...just out of curiosity..as i'v nvr got this opportunity before... what do u think is the main diff. b/w a legendary AIR 1 and any other super awesome top 50 rank(for eg. U...) in iit-jee(adv)?.. Is it about knowledge..??(as there was a diff. of about 40 marks b/w AIR 1 AND AIR 50 this time).. or is it about exam temperament/luck...? we guys,as aspirant have all our theories in place so
ReplyDeletejust wanted to knw this from a top ranker POV and break the ice.. thank u.!!
definitely there is a good amount of difference in intelligence.
DeleteFor example, here also in IIT Bombay, sai sandeep is doing pretty good.
Infact, Ravi Chandra (AIR 2 JEE 2013) is a 10 pointer and department topper.
As far as I am able to interpret, these are something that I found people(who have better rank than me) have which I don't have(or I lack) :
1.) Extremely high IQ - air 1 and 3 are good examples
2.) Brilliant time management - air 2
3.) dedication - many of them
4.) hard working - again many of them
Everyone has his/her own methodology.
I was in 33rd position in JEE.
But here I am fortunately in second position in IIT Bombay (CSE Dept.)
The type of course matters.
For example : I was weak in chemistry but here I got highest grade in it.
I was good at programming but here I couldn't do well.
In all, there are various factors (besides examination temperament) that distinguish the JEE top rankers.
In the end, I am in my institute and the desired department so 33 hardly matters to me.
Get inside IIT and no-one cares what your rank is.
Professors will not care what rank you are. They just think that JEE is rote learning and no concepts are taught till +2 level.
The professor teaching us doesn't even know that we are CS guys :P
Seriously!!!! Professors in IIT Bombay think that JEE is rote learning and no concepts are taught till +2 level. So Strange!!!
Delete100 percent true.
DeleteThey think that we just know how to "tick". We have no real understanding of the concepts and we are just beginners in the field with very little knowledge.
They call JEE as a "rat race" where there are 2 kinds of rats :
winner rats and
loser rats.
But they are rats only and nothing else.
And now I have realized that they are indeed true
not completely true... :O... tats fr sure...

ReplyDeletewell u guys rock..... especially u,our blogger.... :P...for bringing us such insightful details n givin us hope/inspiration not just to crack iit but to crack it good...like crack it wide open rippin g it apart... :p
hey, what were ur academic interests like, before 11th(besides school).? like did u participate in olympiads/ntse and stuff ?? did u join any coachings(before 11th)?..
ReplyDeleteFrankly speaking, I was just an average student before 11th.
DeleteI never participated in any of the exams that you mentioned.
No, I never took a coaching before class 11th
:O.. Surprising... although "avg. student " would be goin toooooo far... anyway.. thanks for answering..!!
DeleteI m currently promoted to 11th and decided to join Allen with dummy so I want your guidance as an experienced person for my choice
DeleteI am ready to work hard but is my decision correct
Hello... If u don't mind me asKin,then what were your indiVidual subject marks in JEE Mains? And also did u give UPTU(UPSEEE).?what were ur marks/rank there if u did....!!
ReplyDeleteJEE main total : 323/360
DeleteMaths : 116
Chemistry : 115
Physics : 92 (I screwed it heavily because I didn't study semiconductors at all and messed up 4 questions from this chapter)
HA!! many would be thankfull to get a 92 physics in jee mains.
DeleteStill waiting for new posts though. :D
When it goal are high 92 even seems less Infront of it isn't it

ReplyDeleteEngineering drawing? do you have to draw even in CSE course? I was thinking that there will be no drawing in CSE atleast!
ReplyDeleteYou also say you study organic chem. But why in CSE?
Another question: It is true that having too many books is useless. According to you, how many books are too many(for 2 whole years of 11th & 12th?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately yes, we have to bear engineering drawing and chemistry.
DeleteThere are certain common courses in the first year and the students of all the departments have to study those courses.
Coming to the point, yes it's useless to have multiple books for JEE. It's a waste of time. There is no need to study the same topic again and again. 2 books are enough
For a non CS background student(who doesn't even knows the P of Programming)...how hard can it be for him to adjust in the CSE department of IITs?and 1 more thing....did u predict ur score in JEE Advanced before results came out?
ReplyDeletewell I think answer of first question is not required at this stage.
DeleteFocus on your jee preparation
Yes, my jee advanced score had been predicted already
The AIR -4 (Kartikeya Gupta) and yourself were from different cities...how come you knew each other....Did you make contacts with the other great students of your batch...
ReplyDeletehello, i hav just given 12 examination and i want to join iit jee coaching? i want to know some coaching institutes in kanpur? will you please suggest me best institute in kanpur
ReplyDeleteHi,Aman,
ReplyDeleteIs there any weightage of board exams in jee advanced like jee main?
No,
DeleteBoard marks have a weightage for NIT
They have a minimum cutoff for IIT
Aman in which class you cleared NSEC?
ReplyDeleteAman, you are the sir of sirs.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind i have a doubt,
How much is the minimum salary for iitians
And i want to go and settle in us , so do all iitians get the opportunity to go to us with a good salary
I currently study in FIITJEE PUNE in class 10
hello Aman! is SAT, for entering in MIT easier than IIT? some people say yes. what do you say? and which institute among the two is better?
ReplyDeleteYes it is but do you afford the money to attend the MIT
DeleteAman bhiya I am in 12th now and I was an average student in 11th.so what should be my strategy to prepare for jee 2017
ReplyDeleteHello Aman bhaiya ,I have given JEE adv 2016 but not sure of my rank.i am thinking to repeat.can you please suggest me what should I do to get success in JEE 2017.
ReplyDeleteHello bhaiya I have not joined any coaching as I am from Etawah which does not have any jEE coaching. What should be my strategy and whether should I choose dummy for better self study ??
ReplyDeletehey, u scored a 100 in physics (cbse) as well.... could you guide me on how to achieve this feat?
ReplyDeleteBro !! I am quite new to your blog and I have found it amazing. Could you give me any e-mail ID through which I can contact you and clear my queries ?
