  7. hey aman !! This message is quite too long. Hope you read it with patience ! I have recently seen your blog ! It's infact worthseeing it ! Basically I'm an inter second year math student studying in sri chaitanya college, visakhapatnam and i'm going to write the all India entrance exams within 6-7 months ! But I need to tell you a few things.. firstly I have not all studied properly in my first year ( though I scored 98 % in my AP state boards , I feel that doesn't give me anything worth for getting a rank in iits ) and wasn't at all planned and so I am not at all thorough with it ! Nowadays I'm just regretting about how I wasted my crucial time this one and half year. I sometimes feel like wish I had that first year back so as to correct my mistakes ! But obvio.. that isn't possible. ! But let me tell you one thing, somewhere bottom of my heart I still feel like I can be through IIT's if I even work hard now ! But seriously i have no idea on how to start, where to start and what to start with ..!!!! I am even getting scared by the vast portion that I need to cover ! so I hope you would show me some way to it.. AND how will I be able to know the exact portion of MAINS and JEE ADVANCED ? because i have gone through many websites but no page is giving me the accurate portion .! many are contradicting too..! Please do help me aman ! I really wanna be one of the iitians !!
by the way the reason behind me messaging you in facebook is because I didn't know how to text you in your blog tongue emoticon
And most importantly , I am just writing the list of books I have with me below so that you can tell me on what I can stick to and which books to follow and do tell me if I need to purchase any other. Do tell me which books I can just avoid !
    MATH :
Arihant Coordinate geometry by Dr SK Goyal
    Pearson Thomas calculus
Integral and differential calculus by Amit Agarwal
Arihant Algebra for jee main and advanced by Dr. SK Goyal
    PHYSICS :
Fundamentals of physics - Resnick Halliday ( eighth edition )
    Understanding physics ( mechanics 1 , mechanics 2 , electricity and magnetism )
    MTG optics
    HC verma 1 and 2.
    CHEMISTRY :
    Organic chemistry :
organic chemistry 9th edition by T.W. Graham Solomons , Craig B. Fryhle.
    advanced problems by himanshu pandey
pearson organic chemistry seventh edition - Morrison and Boyd
Reactions , rearrangements and reagents by S.N.Sanyal
    Physical chemistry :
    O.P.Tondon ( I'm not soo fine with it )
And I only have this with me in Physical.
    INORGANIC CHEMISTRY :
concise inorganic chemistry fifth edition by JD Lee
pearson inorganic chemitry by K. Rama Rao .
Additional to all these , I have my ncert , state akkademi and sri chaitanya books !! And we also have a library nearby ( owned by a physics sir by name Patel who is from BITS pilani ) from where we can even take resonance and fiitjee material too...!
    waiting for your reply !

  20. Hi AMAN,
SORRY QUITE LONG ONE ,PLEASE SPEND TIME READING IT AND PLEASE REPLY!
Aman , I have three questions
    1) I'm aspiring for JEE-2017, I have enrolled myself in FIITJEE two year integrated program, there , after my 2nd phase a reshuffling test was conducted, and I could not perform well in it , because I wrote the exam with severe dengue , and came down to the last class of the two classes . Even I'm like many serious aspirants ready to sacrifice any thing for that IITB CSE spot. But here none of them {total class strength 40,no.. of serious ones max 1or 2} are serious , not only that, they also mock serious students who finish package and take proper class , I don't know what to do , because of them even many times I get distracted. I once read in a reply that you were also from such class, so now , how did you manage this and became a topper
    2) As I mentioned ,to top iitjee
if I solve each and every material provided at fiitjee thoroughly, is it enough (or) should i do this + solve additional problems from a number of various book to top jee.
3)And how do you rate fiitjee material out of 10 its ability to help students to top jee vs other institutes material which you referred.
    Thanks AMAN,
I'M EXTREMELY SORRY IF HAD ASKED ANYTHING STUPID BUT PLEASE REPLY .
Once again, thanks for your blog which greatly helps us in our preparation.

2.) No, nothing is enough. No one studies with the goal of topping JEE. The goal is to perform the best you can. If you get an AIR of 2, that doesn't mean you are in any way less than AIR 1. The last day of the exam is important!
      3.) I rate FIITJEE material 8/10

I AM NOT SO WEAK AT CONCEPTS.I USED TO DO VERY WELL(IN TOP 10) IN INITIAL TESTS.THAT TIME I WAS QUITE MOTIVATED. BUT AS THE RESULT OF SOME OF MY TESTS DETERIORATED(I USED TO SEE SOLUTIONS WITHOUT SERIOUSLY ATTEMPTING.I STOPPED IT AFTERWARDS),I STARTED TO LOSE CONFIDENCE.I NEED A LOT OF PRACTICE OF SOME WEAK TOPICS BUT I THINK THAT TIME ISN'T ENOUGH.what must i do?

  28. Hey Aman, I'm shravan preparing for jee 2017, thanks for your old reply and
your blog. Now I have one big mind blogging question, how important does class notes help in jee preparation, I am asking this because ,my school is my coaching institute(integrated school program).I used to leave for school by 7:30am and come home by 6:30pm ('almost' all 7 days of a week). Distance would be around 13 to 14 kms, I used to travel by motorcycle.I get damn tired after that and I could hardly concentrate 1 or 1.5 hours and hence , I thought I should take at least 2 to 3 days a week off and prepare properly and whole heartedly for jee. But during these days I missed the class as well as class notes. When I asked for class notes from my class mates I found that they were either too much selfish or had not even taken class notes. So I thought its best to leave them (class and class notes) is this correct? So do I miss anything big for my jee preparation or something like that. But I used to read those lessons,if doubts came I used to clear it up.
So please give me some suggestions how to deal with it ? And please do reply.
AND ONCE AGAIN I'M EXTREMELY SORRY I HAD ASKED ANYTHING STUPID BUT PLEASE DO REPLY.
    Thanks aman
I whole heartedly thank u for your blog and your kind support for us in jee preparation.

I come back to home at about 2:40-2:45 PM and then at 3:10 I leave for coaching after then I return my home about at 7:45 PM. There are about 3-4 classes every week or sometimes test on saturday and sundays. After coming home I feel very much tired and there is very less time to study for school as well as coachings. I sleep at about 1:20 AM but the output is still not coming. I am cleared with all my concepts and working hard in my field but not able to get the desired resluts. So please direct me the way How I can perfectly manage time as the syllabus in my school is running from part-2 or different chapters that would be taught in Phase-V or IV.
Sorry to describe my problem very lengthy....Thanks for your patience to read it!!!Please help me..

  67. Don't you worry my friend. I too am in class 11. In my first phase I did some mistakes because of which I couldn't get CM batch. Now first you should follow the following sequence in Theory,Package,CLIP,Archive,Book. Follow this for every chapter. I am getting beniffited by it. Then you are in Fiitjee I.e. You are good in PCM and you just need to manage IP and English. Try utilising these subject periods at school. If you feel you can skip the school teaching for PCM too skip them and do self study in these subject periods. Beware it needs lots of concentration. Good luck for jee preparation. Bye

I still follow the words of teachers religiously like make package archive book clips but there is this boy who doesn't even touch packages does books only and there are many like him who have pushed me to 10 th rank in class itself. All I see my parents sad and my hard work going in vain. I need help. Help if you find my problem genuine.

I am always unsatisfied with the fact that should I MANAGE A COPY FOR ALL QUESTIONS I PRACTISE or I should SIMPLY DO THEM IN ROUGH COPY.

    1. A mix of both?
Manage a copy of important questions. Solve others in rough

    2. Till now I was marking imp questions done in class in the class copy itself and rest all practise ones in the book.

      Thank you for your reply!:)

    ReplyDelete

    1. I am not aman as you can see , classic text series are more concept oriented whereas these arihant books are more likely jee oriented. So , according to my point of view Jee questions are a subset of conceptual questions.Means to say these books may contain high level stuff which maybe not required for jee but for concepts in jee these books are highly beneficial.
      These were my views .

  136. Hi Aman Sir!
I admire you a lot and I thank you for your blog.
I am a JEE 2020 aspirant (I am moving from 10th to 11th this year.) I am an extremely motivated JEE aspirant. I want to perform very well JEE. I want to secure at least a Top AIR 50 in JEE Advanced. I am in an extreme love for Physics and Mathematics, and hence I can do very well in JEE.
The only drawback I feel for JEE preparation is improper Coaching. I have unfortunately joined an okayish National coaching institute (due to financial problems.) The coaching is also starting quite late (at the end of this May month, rather than in mid April.)
I feel an inferiority complex (in front of the 'Topper') only due to improper Coaching and hence improper training.

Can you guide me how I can keep myself confident and motivated and maintain a good and healthy positive competitive atmosphere?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Hi Abhinav, Kshitij here. Although not being qualified to answer your query regarding a top 50 rank(would request Aman sir to reply), let me tell you my case. I too was in the same situation as yours. Lack of proper guidance. I struggled a hell lot to get my doubts cleared and to have a proper competitive environment in the coaching I went. But what can I suggest you is if you can afford try to get enrolled in any premier institute's ALL INDIA TEST SERIES. What it will do is it will give you the required examination temperament along with a very healthy competition to gauge your national level standing very regularly. Keep going bro, just keep the fire inside you to outperform others burning, keep studying, keep practicing and don't worry about the resources you "don't have". Life always doesn't give what you wish, it's your job to turn what's available to you in your favor (I know it was too philosophical ;p)

Don't worry, try out the books mentioned in the blog, solve them earnestly and you should be good to go.

    All the Best!

  139. Hello aman bhaiya, I gave jee this year and I haven't performed very well...I messed up mains and got 19k rank which was something I never expected.I went to allen and I was in the star batch and I also went to a dummy school...but all along the way I knew that I never put in the amount of dedication that would give me what I deserved. And I spent most of the time regreting that I wasted so much time and then I ended up wasting even more time...I know that I will qualify advance this year but not with a good rank and I can get into one of the new iits and people keep telling me that I can achive big things even if I dont go to iit but the thing is that I spent the last two years talking about how worthless the other engg colleges are (I am completely aware that was wrong)and I cant see myself going to them...I am thinking of taking a drop...my concepts are really weak I dont even know where I stand. there are times when I can solve almost every question I get but then I end up wondering if its jugaad I am using and not concept.. I performed well when the tests only included 3or4 chapters in each subject because I would study at the last moment but obviously I didnt retain what I studied .so I am very confused and I dont know what to do.
Is taking a drop a good idea??

  140. Hey aman, i started my jee preparation back in 2013 when i was in class 9. My preparation has been always good and i used to score more than 50% of marks in every test of my coaching of both jee mains and advanced pattern. But when the D-day arrived i.e.jee main 2017 i got all panic and ultimately fucked up jee main 2017. i got only 71 marks and the cut off was 81.I then prepared for bitsat and got 305 marks after preparing a lot. But since i didnt get my desired branch in bits i.e.computer science, i dropped one year for jee preparation. I joined FIITJEE PUNE for one year. I used to get Average marks in AITS and my rank was around 500 in every AITS. I was confident enough this time that i would get a good score in JEE main this time and also somewhat decent in JEE ADVANCED
But again the same thing happened, i i fuck up in JEE MAIN as i got really nervous and i was unable to maintain my cool during the exam. I got really depressed but i hoped that i would clear jee main and so i started preparation for jee Advanced. i used to be a good student and always scored around 65% in my phase tests of advanced pattern. But when the results were announced, i couldn't clear the cut off. I got really depressed and stopped studying for few days due to which my state exams and bitsat went bad. They wrnt bad not because of lack of preparation but due to lack of interest and confidence. I never wanted to opt for local state engieerieng colleges as i think that i deserve to be in IIT. Its my childhood dream and i i cant just move on.I am very confused, your advice would mean a lot and help me. Please reply on my email id vrajatlink@gmail.com

  144. My coaching faculty insists on the importance of making short notes. I too feel that short notes are quite important. I make short notes during my coaching lectures itself (To save time for studies at home.) The notes are a little messy, but good enough for learning and understanding. Coming to the point, one boy in my class writes the short notes roughly in class and then rewrites them really well with highlighter marking and all. They are really beautiful and visually appealing. But I think it is a waste of time (I know writing and rewriting is good but I focus on revising rather.)
My question is, Is this save time strategy correct and am I going in the right direction by not giving unnecessary time to useless things?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. See friend what you have mentioned here is correct but also see that you cover all the important information related to the concept. Many a times while making notes in class we tend to forget some important points or/and make some mistakes ( thus making notes which includes errors ) , so in order to remove this error it is always advisable to make notes at home ( thus providing better revision of concepts and effective notes )
I know this costs a lot of our study time but at same time we also have enough of free time ( time after classes , holidays , Sunday's , etc )
So what I suggest here is that use your free time instead of your study time for making notes ,thus saving your quality study time
