Last few months

The last few months are very important.
Waste this time and time will waste you.
Time is precious during the last few months. Especially the time between JEE Main and JEE Advanced. This time is the rank deciding factor.
Let me make it a bit more explanatory. The people who haven't prepared well during the past two years are going to make full use of this time. Such students were not able to prepare well because of say school exams, board exams etc. But now(after board exams are over), they are completely free of any load and will charge themselves to the fullest.
They might easily go ahead if you don't work hard. So better utilize this time.
To be precise, do the following :

  • Do endless revision of inorganic chemistry. If you don't revise now, then it will be washed away.
  • Solve innumerable problems of organic and physical chemistry.
  • Solve as many problems as you can from various topics.
  • Make a clear list of topics/chapters in which you are weak.
  • Practice infinite problems of the chapters in the above list.
  • Make sure you have completed NCERT books thoroughly.
  • Make sure that you are solving a good amount of problems in a given time. Always have a timer with you to time yourself.
  • Take special care of your health. You don't want to waste even a fraction of this time.
  • Increase your study hours by around 10%.
  • Think about your target. Keep the target in mind and stay motivated.
  • Do well in the test series. Make sure to analyse your mistakes in every paper.
  • Note down the silly mistakes that you committed in the exams and make it a point that you don't repeat the same mistake again.
  • Revise your coaching notes regularly.
  • Cut down your extra curricular activities especially those activities in which your body gets exhausted (sports etc)
Word hard, work smart. The IITs are calling you.

But : Don't lose motivation so easily at this crucial stage.
You are nearing the exam. You have to keep yourself motivated. Stay focused. Discuss the questions with your friends and teachers and find out the technique and try to fix that method in your mind.
Of course, you won't be able to do all questions but at least some questions can be cracked with the help of friends

    1. There is a sequence
During the initial 1.5 years, you are supposed to solve standard textbooks, coaching material (packages) and archive parallel to each other.
Revision packages are meant to be solved in the end for revision.
However, if you have say 2 distinct set of revision packages, then you might try one of them during the initial phase (the 1.5 years) and keep the other one for revision.
Also note that you just cannot pick up "any" book at "any" time.
For example, you shouldn't pick up irodov to develop basics of physics.
That book is meant to be solved when you are already a master and are looking for more challenging problems

  11. Respect.!!.. plz write an in-detail article about ur experiences on D-DAY i.e 2 june 2013.How ur day started, what were u feeling,ur thoughts on reaching the centre,ur "emotions" during THE exam,ur emotions after the exam, the activities going on at ur coaching centre, what were u expecting of the result etc. It would be nice/fun/intresting/helpful to read about that for sure. An AIR of the kind u got might be normal/"useless now"/"people have done better than me" , for u, but for millions of jee aspirants out there, u r no less than a celebrity. 1. I would love to answer your above post.
BUT : only when the time comes
Now is not the time to think of "the day".
You should focus on your preparation.
Towards the end of February or rather beginning of March, you'll get the post that you want - "D day".
In fact, my idea was to put it towards the end of March when JEE main is near and board exams are over.
I think this idea is better.
Let your board exams be over.

      Maths
      Physical Education
      Hindi (unfortunately)
      English was prepared in bits.

    2. Most scoring topic depends on 2 factors :
a.) the level of JEE paper : every year level of JEE paper changes. JEE 2013 had extremely tough Maths and Chemistry sections whereas one of the easiest Physics portion in the history of JEE

b.) your command on a topic : for example, I was weak at algebra so it was not a scoring topic for me. Whereas I was good at calculus and managed to do well in it

    1. Ahhh I remember this paragraph! Oh how badly I remember the questions 49 and 50. That day ! that pressure! that heat
These were the 2 questions that led me to where I am - IIT Bombay ,Computer Science and Engineering
I have sentiments attached to these 2 questions.
      Let me explain.
I had badly screwed up the maths section. I was tensed. Paper 1 went bad and paper 2 was the last resort.
Anyhow, those 3 intense hours of paper 2 also passed.
Bell rang - paper 2 was over.
      Invigilators started collecting the papers.
I was stuck with this paragraph.
I don't know how but "After the paper collection had begun" , I managed to get the answer to these 2 questions (correctly).
      Lucky na!
      Yes!!
      my JEE score : 293
IIT Bombay CS cutoff score - 287
Difference = 6 marks = those 2 questions that I managed to somehow answer correctly
Well in the end - I have forgotten how I did this and now I can't help you

  19. Hi aman bhaiyya.
I am from Kanpur too, and I wish to get a jee rank of under 200. I wasted a lot of time in 11th and my 12th course is about to start. I have around 5 chapters in each subject that I did not study properly, so will it matter in jee ? (I am revising those chapters with whatever time I have left.) I will properly study in the twelfth class to compensate for the 11 th syllabus.
Also I wanted to ask that since jee has become objective, is it necessary to solve subjective problems?(i solve resonance study material subjective and HCV for physics but not much for chemistry abd very oittoe in maths.)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. subjective problems are very important from the point of concept development. JEE might be objective but you won't really get the feel of the subject unless you solve a few subjective problems

      Delete
    2. From where should I try subjective problems for maths? Because I feel that rd Sharma objective and tmh are more than enough. Also is subjective required for organic?

    3. Maths Subjective : Arihant books
Organics : Yes ofcourse. Best source is past year JEE problems. There are endless subjective questions in JEE past year papers

    3. I think that a special package isn't gonna effect(or affect) your rank in these last days... What you prepare for these two years is the thing that really matters... If you have prepared well, then I think not doing GMP/ Rank booster in the last days is going to throw your rank from XX to XXX/ XXXX. Also if you have prepared with loopholes in it, a GMP isn't gonna pump your rank from XXXX to XX. I have completed GMP, and I think that GMP has a collection of toughest problems, and in these last days, if you can't solve a problem, it's really going to demotivate you... Review packages and RTPF are best at this stage of preparation...
