How did you revise the whole JEE syllabus before Mains?

Since JEE Main marks the start of engineering entrances it is very important to be done nicely for a good confidence build-up. JEE Main is all about accuracy and speed since the syllabus is comparatively easier. Also, as the entire syllabus is covered by students usually over a period of a couple of years, revision is a very important factor in determining your performance in JEE Main. Even for those who just prepare for JEE Main in the last month, revising class 11th portions is really important for a decent score. Here is how you should revise the entire syllabus before the ‘D-Day’:

  1. Make concise notes during your preparation days or go for a premade formula booklet in case you have not made notes and it is too late now. Definitely see that formula book regularly for the last month and add any formulas or concepts that you feel are missing in it. So a regular dose of revision of formulas and concepts through these notes is a must.
  2. Next is practicing mock papers and past year papers. The best thing about JEE Main is that its pattern is very similar to the previous years. Thus, analyzing the archives is very important for having a fair idea of the exam. Solve a mock test/previous year paper every alternate day when you are one month away from JEE Main. Revise formulas and then attempt a paper. After the paper, analyze all your mistakes. Check for solutions and see where you could do the same question in lesser time. See for any possible tricks that are getting applied in questions. After such an analysis you would realize your weak topics. Then you should do those topics properly from a good book and practice a lot of questions from such topics. Preparing through mocks really helps you. Utilize the entire next day in it too and the rest of the time of that day in doing a general revision. Continue this till you reach the time when one week is left for JEE Main. Then increase the frequency of your mock tests and sit daily for 5 days from 9 AM to 12 PM and do the paper with full seriousness. This will make your brain adapt to giving papers in that same time slot as the exam. Keep revising formulas and analyzing the paper along with this. In the last two days do a thorough revision of formulas and concepts.
  3. Don’t consider it to be a battle and be normal in those last days. Keep your schedule regular and normal in the last two days to prevent anxiety from ruining your paper. These mock exams will definitely help you get rid of exam fear and will make you revise everything thoroughly. Revision through mocks is the best way to go through things in the last month. Having all formulas and important concepts in one place really helps a lot at the end so if you still are in the preparation phase, make notes for all chapters. Another tip is, to keep a day per week during the regular preparation months solely for revision wherein you could clear backlogs and revise the previously done portions from notes. After that, you could solve a small set of questions in a time-bound way to keep things fresh in mind.

All the best!
